  1. That was an amazing tutorial, I can’t wait to try it out myself.
A question though, is it possible to have similiar swirly effects with out a tablet and just using the mouse?

    Thanks

    • Sure you can, just use the pen tool and make a stroke instead of the brushes. If you are good enough with the mouse I suppose you could draw with the brush tool based on the smoothness it applies, but I’d say the pen tool is a safe bet.

      • I’ll take another go at it with the pen tool then. :)
I tried it last night with the brush and it turned out better than I had expected!
Once again, it was an amazing tutorial, something nice and simple but really good looking to start off Illustrator with.

I’ve been using Photoshop for years now but Illustrator has always been a mystery to me, so this was extremely helpful.

  2. Great tutorial, but for me I can1t get to grips with my tablet and I use my mouse. I was going to ask the same question as Sina, but you have answered it. I think I am going to splash out on a new tablet as mine is not as smooth as it can be!

  6. Thanks very much – I made a gorgeous Christmas card design using this technique. I’ve always found Illustrator far more difficult to use than InDesign and Photoshop. This tutorial made it easy.
