Guess what! There are actually things happening with the site a little now and then and most of the time the changes do happen over the weekend. Here are some news on what’s up!

New Sub-header

Alright so I’ve updated the sub-header from the old cutoff and generally buggy featured tutorial viewer because I felt it was just taking up space and not doing that much. Instead I’ve added a little three part info box. The latest blog headlines, the podcast episode (latest) and the latest tutorials (or featured ones). I hope you like it!

Brand new poll!

I thought since Photoshop World is coming up this week (more on that in a couple of days), that it would be a pretty good to change out that poll. Instead I’ve changed it to ask which your favorite blogging platform is as I’m really interested in knowing. Now I do know that I can’t fit all in a poll, so I’ve listed the most major ones and then included an other one, if there’s a platform you think should be there. Leave me a comment.

Articles Coming

I have written and I’m in the process of writing more more photography and web design articles for the blog as I feel the news posts need something more per day. I’ll still go on with the posts but also do more article posting and so on. Look out for the first one tomorrow!

Tuesday News Stuff

Here’s what’s up this Tuesday:

I’m going to start today by apologizing for the podcast being late. I had some archiving troubles on the podcast host site and thus I couldn’t upload any new episode (it is going to be fixed by tomorrow though). Look for a new episode coming tomorrow!
Over at Copyblogger they ran a very interesting article called Are you Trustworthy today. It’s a pretty good article that talks about gaining your readers trust which is vital to any blogger who are looking to survive. A good read.
WP Candy has a lot of different goodies and articles about WordPress and the latest today is about Frameworks, Child Themes, Filters and Hooks. It’s a pretty extensive article but it brings up a lot of good things and tips when designing for WordPress and how you can be helped using certain elements using the Thematic framework.
The iPhone has been out for a bit now and although there are quite a lot of applications in the business category of the AppStore, there are no big names released yet. Over at CIO.com they speculate in why.

Finally before we end for this news post I want to make a shout out to a buddy, Dave (known to some as PhotoshopDB). He and his wife had a very cute little baby this weekend! Congratulations guys!

Here’s the Monday news (apart from that schools back again for me):

First off WordPress 2.6.1 was released at the end of last week. It’s mainly a bug fix update but is recommended nonetheless for all users. Get it from WordPress.org!
Secondly, I know my episode of the podcast is just a little bit late right now. I’m going to record the episode right after this blog post is finished and then post it up for y’all! Trying my best to get it up tonight!
It’s PhotoWalk week! It’s this Saturday the 23rd August. The Scott Kelby Worldwide PhotoWalk! I’m hosting one here in beautiful Gothenburg, Sweden and well, all I can say is that it’s coming up really quickly, so, there are still a few spots left over here last time I looked. If any of you reading this are going to my walk, then you should look out for an email tomorrow with contact information and more detailed location info. Please check your emails for that soon.
Over at WP-Candy today they had a ncie article talking with the subject, "Does WordPress Scare your clients?". It was a very interesting read and is very true indeed. It’s well worth the time to read through.
As a final note, I hate spam. They are filling up more than usual right now and even though I’ve got a good spam filter, they get in the junk mail which gets large and emptied very frequently. SPAM sucks and doesn’t do anyone any good!

The beauty of weekdays is that there is always so much going on that is always as fun to share!

Earlier in the week we saw the release of Lightroom 2 and I then also told you about some great resources to learn all the new features and also posted a review of the missing FAQ book. Now the presets are rolling in. First out here are some really cool ones from the great guy Sean McCormack over at the Lightroom Blog. He’s released a collection of more than 70 graduated filters. The collection is available for only €5.00 from his site with samples there as well!
More Lightroom 2 things. I’ve just finished the recording of my walkthrough and just editing it up to post it to the Creative Suite Tips & Tricks Podcast later. I’ll also be making it available here on the blog but then you have to wait until tomorrow. Podcast subscribers get the scoop first
Are you blogging? Do you want to do it from a desktop application? If so you might be interested in this article from Smashing Magazine where they review 15 Desktop Blogging Tools.
If you’re coming along for the Worldwide Photo Walk on August 23rd you might want to know that there have been a lot more cities added over the days, making it a 113 total at the moment! That’s some really cool numbers. I’m going to be leading the walk in Gothenburg, Sweden (the city where I live) along with my buddy Rickard Niklasson. Our walk details have been set and posted on the site now so check it out!

Well today is indeed Tuesday and adding some corny titles to it, we end up with Tuesday-day, the day which really is Tuesday. Just arrived home after being at the doctors taking a blood test to find out if I’m allergic or not, unfortunately I bleed easily so the nurse had to try twice, once in each arm because the first vain broke. Anyway I’m all good and now I just need to wait for the results and just take the pills when I get symptoms. Anyway, that’s enough about me and onto the news!

Firstly, I’m taking a minute to wish one of my best friends a very happy birthday!! You know who you are and have the best birthday possible!
Yesterday I released a brand new starting episode of the Creative Suite Tips and Tricks Podcast. It’s great to be back and you can view the InDesign tutorial on the podcast site. Also released are two new tutorials here on the site, Create HDR Photos Part 1 & Part 2.
If you are a user of iWorks and specifically Pages you probably want to check out the list of templates for Pages from Jumsoft. They are available from there for only $29 and are of great quality. They also have other templates for other applications.
Trying to get a job? Just got a job and want to make sure you handle it? Over at A List Apart today they’ve posted an article today called Why Did you Hire me?. It gives you some tips on what you do when you just get a job with negotiations etc. Give it a read!

Wednesday Goodies

I’m proud to announce that I’ll be rolling our a couple of interviews soon with some amazing artists in various medias who I really think you’ll all like. I’m just waiting for the interviews to be completed before I get them out, so expect it in a couple of days!

Photomatix Pro 3 has just been released and is available as a free upgrade to current 2.x license holders, if you don’t have a license, they are available for $99. Updates in version three includes a much better interface and a lot of cool new features!
Adobe has released their new version 1.0 of the Adobe Meda Player now featuring a lot of cool free content among others, from Lynda, Total Training, Kelby Training and more. What’s also cool is they have a new channel called Adobe TV as well!
I was looking in my Feedburner statistics for this site’s feed and my podcast feed and I was stunned to see the podcast has over 700 subscribers! Thanks to everyone who has subscribed (although I doubt you are reading this since this site only has 12 subscribers ) in just two weeks!
I just finished writing a massive tutorial (over 14,000 characters) on how to create a simple website with only code which will be expanded on in future tutorials. I just posted it up for all NAPP members on the NAPP Member Forums to see what kind of reactions it gets and if it is all good, I’ll get it up here as well!

Creative Suite Tips and Tricks Podcast Live Again!!

After a long while being practically dead because of bandwith troubles with it not being enough. Now after a long while of planning the podcast, it is now back online on its brand new and own website www.csttpodcast.com! It’s all new graphics, all new intro and all new episodes coming, but a good thing, if you were a previous subscriber all you need to do is to make sure to have the right podcast feed URL and use the correct link to iTunes. Or just do a search for Creative Suite Tips and Tricks on there!

Photoshop Elements 6 for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski is out!

The brand new book, "Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photographers" co-authored by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski is now on its way to the bookstores. The book deals with all the new things now in the new version of Photoshop Elements and they have added a lot of new chapters for example a big one about Camera Raw handling using PSE 6. Creative Suite Tips & Tricks on its way to relaunch!

Yes, you read that right, after some time being down due to bandwidth trouble and hosting trouble, the Creative Suite Tips and Tricks podcast will be brought back at the end of this week (alas a new episode coming next monday). It’s going to have a complete redesign and you’ll be seeing a lot of new and improved stuff there. On the track, I have an episode plan that is spanning a good 12 weeks or so into the future. Just keep reading here to perhaps get a little sneak peak on the new look and episodes

I think that about it rounds off the training news right now so again, stay tuned for all the cool stuff. Oh and also, I updated the reviews section with a couple of new reviews this weekend.
