iPhone 3.0 Software Update

iPhone 3.0

I’ve put together a post on MacAppZone outlining some of the new features of the iPhone 3.0 Software Update that was publicly released yesterday. I talk about a few of the new features that I like the most and mention many more in the passing! If you are interested, you can read the post I did just after the first beta version shipped with my thoughts then although I must say that the firmware version has definitely improved since and it just wonderful! Terry White also did a full coverage of the new features on his techblog.

Wednesday Newsbits

PhotoWalk

I’ve not been good at doing the news posts for the past couple of weeks but that is to change! Here are the news from this week!

Contests and Giveaways

Two of my friends are holding some great giveaways this week! First off we have Janine Smith of Janinealogy who is holding a contest where you can win two 20×30" photos from Mpix! Pretty cool stuff. All you need to do is go to her site and answer one of three available questions to have a chance of winning!

I said there was more right! Lisa Sage is holding another giveaway where you have a chance to get 1000 free business cards and a free canvas print courtesy of Uprinting.com! All you need to do to have a chance to win is to leave a comment on her post and say what you would use the prizes for!

2nd Annual Worldwide PhotoWalk

If you’re a photographer you’re going to like to know that Scott Kelby is hosting his second annual worldwide photo walk on July 18th this year! There are currently already over 200+ walks that you can sign up for but be quick, they are filling out fast! Sadly, I’m away on holiday on the date and won’t be able to host a walk like I did in Gothenburg, Sweden last year. It was a fun event definitely and I hope to be able to make it next year around! You can find out more details at the PhotoWalk website or at Scott’s Blog.

Nifty Lightroom Plugins

Sean McCormack of Lightroom-Blog has released a nifty little plugin that adds model release and property release fields to the metadata panel, that you can insert in your photo’s metadata simply! Should be very nice to be able to keep track of which release goes for which photo, especially when sending them away as well. It’s available for free (donationware) from Lightroom-Blog.com!

Nikon Releases New dSLR, Nikon D5000!

Nikon D5000

Nikon has just released a brand new body, the Nikon D5000! It sports a 12.3 megapixel sensor in the DX format. The key new feature is the 2.7" LCD screen that is fully tilt- and twistable. That same LCD screen also features LiveView! Another great feature is the 24fps video recording that can go up to 720p. Below are some other key specifications, however it looks definitely like this is going to compete very well in the market field, especially with the new LCD. It is set to be available in late April for $850 together with an 18-55 VR lens ($750 for the body only).

iPhone 3.0, my thoughts

iPhone 3.0 Software Update

A couple of weeks ago now, Apple unveiled a preview of the iPhone 3.0 firmware and at the same time released the beta version to developers. As an iPhone developer, I was very excited to be able to download and install iPhone 3.0 on my phone to begin using it right away, as it features some updates and news that I’ve been longing for. Thursday News Yummies

Wacom Intuos 4

It’s Photoshop World week this week and unfortunately, I can’t be there. Perhaps next year I’ll be able to go and meet up with everyone, I do really hope I will. However, there are still quite a few news elements that need to get out and about and here are the news yummies for this week!

Wacom releases Intuos 4

Wacom has just released the Intuos 4 series of their popular tablet line. There are a lot of news in this upgrade, including of course a new design of the tablet, sporting what I think are very cool LED displays that will show you what shortcut you have for the express keys. I’m very happy with my Intuos 3 that I have, but I look forward to try out the Intuos 4 soon. You can read more about it on Wacom’s site.

Quick iPhone 3.0 Impressions

I’m all set with my iPhone 3.0 Beta firmware now and I installed it on my phone yesterday. So far it is running really smooth and only has the occasional smaller lags. I’m very impressed so far, especially with the stability! I’m going to be using it some more in real-life testing before posting a full review of what I think so far, which I have scheduled into the post schedule in the coming week(s).

I found this great article over on NETTUTS just the other day. It’s talking about a bunch of HTML tags you may never knew existed and never thought about using even if you knew they were there. This article covers them, how to use them and what they are good for!

iPod Shuffle

Apple released a brand new and updated iPod Shuffle yesterday which was actually pretty surprising considering that they usually do releases on Tuesdays and not on Wednesdays. However, it is really a brand new iPod that isn’t really like any of the previous shuffles.
