A Rerun: How to Shoot Fireworks

Like I always do on New Years and for my american readers this time of the year, here is how to shoot these wonderful fireworks:
Fireworks is a lovely thing to photograph but it may seem hard at first. I’ve been doing it for the past three years now and really feel that I’m getting the grip around it! I hope it helps to clear up some stuff if you are unsure since I’ve gotten a lot of questions about it this year, and that you go out and try it tonight, it is really cool and fun.

Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone

This week, it is a mix between both video and photography. With the current season going on, I’m trying to focus a bit more on photography as of now but definitely will not forget the video and audio side. What I want to talk about this week is getting out of your comfort zone. Leaving what you usually photography/film and doing something else for a while!
8 Tips for Pleasant Flower Photography
It is late spring, almost getting into summer in most parts of the world. This means that flowers are blooming and that pretty much everything in the nature looks gorgeous. This is a perfect time to do flower photography, with close-ups and macros as well and I’m going to today share some flower photography tips and tricks.
Story: The Shooting of a Team Photograph
For this first Photography/Video/Media Thursday, I’d like to talk photography, specifically the challenges when shooting a team. I recently had the opportunity of shooting the official school football (soccer for your americans) team for a city championship. What was needed was a serious group photo and one humorous photo. With the fact that this was to take place in the school auditorium during a break, there wasn’t really much time!
Weekend Website Tip – Photography Corner

For any photography interested person this site, Photography Corner, is a place you really must visit. The site is based around a forum where you can post your photos, get comments and feedback on them, talk about gear, software, the business side, participate in a lot of great contests (with prizes) and a lot more! Basically it’s a good friendly community of photographers who share and comment on photos and more. Apart from the forum, you have the main website with tutorials and resources on plenty of things, but it is really the forum that shines. Take some time, go visit the site. Sign up for the forums and share! Comment on other photos! Have fun!

The story about JPG Magazine – Closing or not?

A couple of days ago, JPG Magazine announced that they were closing down because of funding. They also said that the site would be closing on January 5th. As of today though, there is a new blog post on their blog thanking everyone for the tremendous support and because of that and also because several companies have approached them wanting to help, they have a bit more time to look at things and they are looking at keeping the site up for at least another week.
I’m seriously hoping that they get a bunch of donations or that a company accuires them or donates to them to keep them alive. JPG Magazine is a great mag and a great website and it would be terrible to see it go.
New Years Fireworks
There were a lot of cool Fireworks here on News Years and as usual I went to the local city display of the fireworks and I thought I should share a couple of them with y’all! After all, the new year started really good and I plan to shoot a lot more this year (which means post and share thoughts and photos as well).

Quick Holiday Gift Idea: Canvas/Gallery Wrap

I’ve got a quick little holiday gift idea here for all you photographers. A really nice way of displaying a print is by getting it printed on canvas and wrapping it around a wooden frame (or similar), to make it a gallery wrap. It’s really a professional and elegant display that instabtly gives the photos you choose to print, a much cooler look.
I would love to give you the name of my favourite place to do these, but since I’m far away in Sweden it probably won’t do any good (Expert Foto Götaplatsen here in Gothenburg if you are wondering though). I’m just going to have to go and give you the recommendation that I’ve heard from a lot of my buddies in the US. The company is Mpix that according to my buddies (and I trust my buddies) do prints with stunning quality, at a very fast turnaround time.
