If you do any kind of commuting, podcasts are going to save you, I promise! With music, I find myself listening to the same things all over again to the point when they become boring. I also want to listen to music mainly when writing (like now) as I don’t loose any focus on the text then. However podcasts are great to have and listen to when you aren’t doing a lot, such as when you commute! Here are some that I subscribe to.
Freelance Radio
From the always wonderful Freelance Switch website comes Freelance Radio, a bi-weekly show where they discuss topics related to freelancing and topics that are of interest to freelancers in general. They’ve got a mailbag section where they pick a letter and try to give advice. It’s all around a great listen! The episodes are usually released on Mondays and span around the hour in length.
MacBreak Weekly
A weekly show where Leo Laporte and his guests talk about news in the Mac world. It’s always a good listen and is both funny and insightful. The show spans for about one and a half hours with a new episode being released in the feed on Wednesdays (it is recorded live on twitlive.tv on Tuesdays).
This Week in Photography
For a while, this show has been off my recommendation list as it’s contained a bit too little photography talk (but plenty of humor and still worth listening to) but now they have taken it up a notch again and every week release a podcast with great content (still with the humor) and recently great interviews as well! It spans usually one hour fifteen to an hour and a half and is released every Monday.
Layers TV
Layers TV is a weekly show put together by the folks over at Kelby Media Group. Hosted by the talented Corey Barker and Raphael “R.C” Concepcion you’re definitely going to learn a lot of good tips and techniques. They cover all Adobe applications, from animating in After Effects into editing photos in Photoshop and sorting in Bridge. It’s a video show that runs for fifteen minutes to half an hour and is released on Wednesdays.
WordPress Weekly
The newest addition to my listening list is WordPress Weekly, a weekly show all about WordPress. There are usually some really good content and discussion on the show and quite often interviews with folks very active in the WordPress community such as plugin and theme authors even sometimes even the WordPress core developers. The episodes are usually around the hour but can range from half an hour to and hour and a half (or more) and they are released on Saturdays.
As you can see, the list pretty much renders a new podcast every day of the week and with a couple more that I’ve got (which I’ll share some other time), you actually get something new to listen to every day!

Most podcasts about the Creative Suite is about the tools in the apps. We put out a weekly podcast that mixes the tools with real-life techniques that help you learn to use the Creative Suite, creatively.
