Daily Quick-Tips
Welcome to the Daily Creative Suite Quick-Tips from us at Bernskiold Media. Each day we are posting a new tip from one of the creative suite applications so that you can learn something new every day, especially the small tricks that makes it all go a lot faster.
ID: Different Passage of Placeholder Text
When you are working in InDesign and insert the default placeholder text, you might be searching for same variation. If you are, just activate Caps Lock and insert the Placeholder text and another text passage will be used instead.
AI QT: Detach Your Tools
If you are using a specific set of tools in Illustrator all the same, you might want to detach them from the toolbar so that you can easily select the sub-tools quickly from anywhere in your workspace.
To do this, you want to click and hold on the tool group in the toolbar and have it expand. When it does, you simply click on the little arrow at the right of the pop-up to detach them.
ID QT: Customized Correction Flagging
If you go into the InDesign Autocorrect preferences (Edit > Preferences > Autocorrect on Windows, InDesign > Preferences > Autocorrect on Mac) you can choose exactly what InDesign will flag for correction.
PS QT: Quicker Duplication
Duplicating an object in Photoshop can be done in many ways. One way is to simply hold down the Alt key (PC) or Option key (Mac) and then with the Move Tool move the object to create a duplicate and move it.
AI QT: Select Shapes With Same Color
In Illustrator you can select different shapes based on the color. If you go under the “Select” menu and then under “Same”, you will find options for selecting based on same Blending Mode, same File & Stroke, same Fill, Opacity, Stroke Color and Stroke Weight as well as same Style, Symbol Instance and Link Block Series. Imagine yourself using this when you have to make a last minute color change!
