What the Duck 503

It’s once again this time of the week. It’s Friday and it’s a long weekend here. In the morning I’m going to be catching a train down south to join my mum at my grandparents house. I hope for some great shooting weather there and to be able to post some new shots. Meanwhile, here are some news from today!

  • If you are a Lightroom user and move between a laptop and a desktop a lot and want to be able to in a good way move Lightroom stuff like that as well, you probably want to check out Matt Kloskowski’s post today over at his blog where he talked about that. Check it out here.

  • I posted up a new review in the reviews section earlier today. If you like me are a Mac user and use the Twitter service, you might want to check out the review of the Twitterific application.

  • I hope you are reading this amazing comic strip, but in the event that you aren’t, go and check out What the Duck. It’s a great comic strip available on the site right here. Should start up your weekend right.

  • I’m working on some cool new website sections and updates both here and on XLD Studios and both sites will get a few new cool things added coming soon. A post is over there describing the summer changes on that side.

What the Duck

It is finally friday and it is so very nice! I’m being busy with a lot of web design works and I’ve been working on location at a company locally for the past two days getting their website up to date and making it nicer, still not entirely finished but almost! On with todays news however!

What the Duck

I’ve linked to What the Duck previously on the blog but I figure it is time to do again (one cannot do that too many times!). What the Duck is a photography online comic strip that has grown very popular. It is daily and pictured above is today hillarious strip which you just have to read! Check out the What the Duck site for more!

New Adobe Magazine Edition

The newest edition (and first for 2008) of the free Adobe Magazine has been released. The new issue features Photoshop being used for concept art, architectural illustration, and scientific imaging so check it out here!

Layers - The new photoshop book, on layers!

Finally for today comes a book tip on what looks to be so far the best photoshop book of 2008! It is the new Layers: The Complete Guide to Photoshop’s most powerful feature by Matt Kloskowski. It looks to be indeed a killer book explaining everything you need to know about layers in Photoshop! Go and read more about the book over at the Kelby Training website where you can for a limited time pre-order and get a signed copy of the book!

Wednesday News Update

Filed in Apple, Misc, News, Photography, Podcasts, Software Comments

There has been some time since the news updates hasn’t there. With a full weekend using Leopard and testing it out, my My Desktopfinal conclusion is that at least for me, it works really well. All applications are working except the Video CS3 suite programs as well as some bugs in Lightroom, namely with the printing module which if you used any of the upgrade options to leopard (and not an erase and install) will not work. So all in all I think Leopard is great, lots of great features and I must say I am in love with Time Machine from the start. So check out the post coming later today, on a Leopard review :)

Check out these cool photographers!

I’m gonna start off by sending you over to this portfolio of the cool photographer Ninad Dabadghav who has a most impressive portfolio! Check it out right here and be amazed!
Next I will send you to another cool photographer, called Younes Bounhar. He’s an incredible photographer with lots and lots of talent so check him out here!
I wasn’t planning on sending you to this third photographer in the beginning, because I had originally only planned two photographer tips, but I thought why should he not be mentioned. So last but not least, go and check out my buddy, the awesome and talented landscape photographer, Jono Renton!

Photography Comic

What the Duck #334

So I think I have mentioned this photo comic once before here, but I absolutely love it! It is called WhattheDuck and it is just hilarious! So go over to the What the Duck site and read it! :D

A little more Leopard to finish off…

LeopardIf you are thinking about the Leopard upgrade on your Mac but are a little hesitant, check out my review on it coming later today and also go and check out Terry White’s road to leopard part 1, 2 and 3!

Also, check out a new episode series in my Creative Suite Tips & Tricks Podcast that will, starting today, launch as a midweek episode that will all be about being creative with the creative suite and putting tools and techniques that you learn in the sunday/monday episodes to the use and jumping between the programs etc. It is gonna be cool so go and check it out later today!
