In this tutorial we take a look at creating a swirly blend wallpaper in Illustrator. It’s a simple but really stylish and cool effect that makes for a very nice wallpaper.

That was an amazing tutorial, I can’t wait to try it out myself.
A question though, is it possible to have similiar swirly effects with out a tablet and just using the mouse?
Thanks
Sure you can, just use the pen tool and make a stroke instead of the brushes. If you are good enough with the mouse I suppose you could draw with the brush tool based on the smoothness it applies, but I’d say the pen tool is a safe bet.
I’ll take another go at it with the pen tool then.
I tried it last night with the brush and it turned out better than I had expected!
Once again, it was an amazing tutorial, something nice and simple but really good looking to start off Illustrator with.
I’ve been using Photoshop for years now but Illustrator has always been a mystery to me, so this was extremely helpful.
Nice tutorial, but are you eating a candy? It’s a bit distracting!
Great tutorial, but for me I can1t get to grips with my tablet and I use my mouse. I was going to ask the same question as Sina, but you have answered it. I think I am going to splash out on a new tablet as mine is not as smooth as it can be!
good tutorial but are you eating or something?? very distracting lol!
couldnt stand the voice, were you eating or do you have a massive saliva build up or something? so annoying
